In Cusco, the heart of the Inca
Empire, we explore lovely narrow cobblestone streets, the impressive
Sacsayhuaman fortress, the mysterious carved rock shrine of Kenko and the delightful Inca Baths at
Tambomachay on this classic Cusco tour.
Later, in the Sacred Valley of the Incas,
we visit the Native Market at Pisac and the town and ceremonial site of
Ollantaytambo - the only Inca village that has been continuously inhabited
since the time of the Incas.
The highlight of our trip is the visit to Machu
Picchu the legendary
"Lost City of the Incas", so well hidden by the
overgrowth that it was never found by the "Conquistadores".
It was rediscovered by
professor Hiram Bingham in 1911. This city is one of the world's most beautiful and important
archaeological finds of the 20th century.

Chincheros, a
village surrounded by perpetually snow-capped peaks. At a very colorful
Sunday fair in the main square, the indigenous people trade by barter as
they did in olden times.
After lunch at a typical restaurant, we visit
the Maras Salt mines, famous because they have been exploited since Inca
times until today. Continue on the Moray, about 25 minutes by car, features
an impressive set on concentric agriculture terraces that run down to a
depth of 50 meters. Some believe the site was a shrine dedicated to the
goddess of fertility. Return to hotel. Includes:
